About Huppy Bar
The tale of the Huppybar begins somewhere between soaring cliffs, rowdy waves, and an impassioned river guide deep in the heart of the Grand Canyon. Working over 120 days on the river, season after season, Lyndsay “Huppy” Hupp needed more than the average snack bag had to offer. Pulling together her cravings, creativity, and commitment to healthy eating, Huppy designed the perfect bar: delicious, nutrient dense, and satisfying to the core.
Huppy never intended to take the bars to market. However, as more and more friends, fellow guides, and river guests began raiding her stash and calling them “Huppybars”, a path to the marketplace began to emerge. Starting at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, Flagstaff, and eventually across Arizona and several points around the West, Huppybars are now enjoyed by 1,000s of “huppy” customers looking for that perfect snack on their big outdoor adventures or in everyday life.
Huppy is a believer in taking a conscious role in one’s own health and well-being through good diet and adequate exercise. It was this belief that led to the creation of Huppybars in the first place. A wide-angle view of her vision is for our society as a whole to take more personal responsibility for our health. Obesity is running rampant in the United States. People suffer from malnutrition in the face of abundance. Imagine if all the resources and healthcare monies allocated to the obesity epidemic were instead directed to better educating our kids, fighting real hunger issues, and creating a more sustainable future for us all.
Huppy has taken her bars to market as her contribution to offer people a healthy, convenient, and delicious snack that can be enjoyed by all walks of life.
Huppy was born and raised in Columbus, OH. After high school she rode dreams of grandeur out west. She graduated from Northern Arizona University with a B.S. in Biology, and has since had the privilege of working as a full-time river guide in the Grand Canyon for nearly a decade. When not down in the “big ditch” she can be found floating, sliding, hiking, rolling, running, or climbing her way around some beautiful stretch of country, working as a wildlife biologist, or at her home base in Flagstaff making Huppybars and enjoying the company of a fabulous community.
